Description
The Ortofon OM Q.BERT Cartridge is designed specifically for scratch performance and back-cueing. Therefore, it gives turntablists and mix DJs a cartridge built around demanding vinyl techniques. Its ultra high 11 mV output produces a strong signal for suitable DJ phono equipment. Furthermore, the cartridge combines this powerful output with 90 μm tracking ability at 315 Hz. The spherical stylus uses an 18 μm tip radius for reliable groove tracing during active performance. Additionally, its 12 μm/mN dynamic lateral compliance supports the cartridge’s specified tracking characteristics. Ortofon also designed the Q.BERT with low wear characteristics for repeated DJ use. Consequently, the cartridge helps support demanding scratch sessions while maintaining its intended groove tracking performance. The cartridge features a more subdued high-end, which helps minimise surface noise from worn vinyl. Meanwhile, its accentuated mid-range helps bring scratching forward within the overall sound presentation. Its 2–4 g tracking force range gives DJs flexibility when configuring their turntable. Ortofon recommends a 3 g tracking force for the specified operating setup. The 20° tracking angle matches the cartridge’s specified design and operating configuration. Moreover, its 1,680 Ohm internal impedance supports the recommended electrical configuration. The OM Q.BERT uses 920 mH internal inductance and supports 200–400 pF load capacitance. It also specifies a 47 kOhm recommended load resistance for compatible phono equipment. The cartridge weighs 5 g and uses a spherical stylus for its scratch-focused design. Additionally, Ortofon specifies the Stylus Q.Bert as its replacement stylus. Overall, the Ortofon OM Q.BERT Cartridge combines high tracking ability, ultra high output, and low wear characteristics. Therefore, it provides a dedicated solution for scratch-focused DJs and turntablists.
